The LongShot, das punkige Power-Pop-Seitenprojekt von Green Days Billie Joe Armstrong, ergänzt durch Green-Day-Tourgitarrist Jeff Matika am Bass, Kevin Preston an der Gitarre und David S. Field am Schlagzeug, tauchte erstmals im Februar 2018 auf, gefolgt von der plötzlichen Veröffentlichung einer Drei-Song-EP Anfang April. Die Gruppe brachte im April schnell das unterhaltsame und unbeschwerte Album Love Is for Losers digital heraus, das hier sein Vinyl-Debüt feiert. Picked this up on a whim and it's been spinning nonstop. The LongShot's Love Is for Losers is a fun, loose side-project from Billie Joe Armstrong and company, and the punk-inflected power pop here really works. Tracks like "Taxi Drive" and "Chasing a Ghost" mix classic rock and country touches with straightforward rock energy. It feels unpretentious and catchy, a nice change of pace from bigger productions. The vinyl pressing sounds clean and warm. Good for fans of Green Day looking for something scrappier and more relaxed.
